Tribute to the late great BARRY ROBERTS
Barry Roberts, gone but not forgotten. In the long history of the club Barry has been the best golfer at Hill Barn bar none. He will be in the memories of many for a long time and will be sadly missed. Bless you Barry, you have left one hell of a gap that will take some filling I had known Barry for many years and he was always happy to play with all levels of golfer. He inspired me with his attitude and commitment to golf and his love of Hill Barn. I was glad to have known such a great man who's memory will live on as an inspiration to others who love this game. His achievements and talents were legendary and if I am ever half the golfer he was, I would be delighted. A sad loss to the game of golf and a historic club.

To everyone at Hill Barn - I would like to thank so much everyone who came to Barry's funeral and afterwards at Hill Barn on Friday, the support from the club for myself and my family has been truly amazing. Barry was always so proud to be a member and I now can see why. Anita and Mark were stars for arranging such lovely food, working extra time to do all this, and Anita even took some of the family home, thanks also to the other staff who worked hard also. I really could not believe it when I walked in the bar and saw the name already up there, Richard Haygarth has been amazing agreeing to all the tributes at the club that will keep Barry's name alive for so many years to come. I met many of you for the first time, especially Hill Barn Tour guys and can understand why he loved these holidays so much you are a great bunch. Finally my thanks go to Malcolm who has visited Barry constantly over the last few weeks both at home and in hospital, he has been a great support and I am sure has been very much involved in the tributes, especially the renaming of the Championship Shield. I shall miss him so much but what you have all done is a great comfort.
FROM GRETA ROBERTS
A very sad start to our year at the Barn, with the passing of our dear friend Barry Roberts. Barry will be greatly missed. He was truly, a unique and lovely man. We go on. Thanks to all of you that supported myself and Oliver Callister, the junior Captain, at our drive-in, and the evening Dinner. Special thanks to my social organiser, John Prichard, and to the efforts of Ian Stewart, not forgetting the ladies with the sale of raffle tickets. I look forward to my year as Captain, and hope we can together continue to make Hill Barn Golf Club, a club to be proud of. Junior golf this year is at a new beginning. A cause, very close to the late Barry Roberts heart. Bob Truman and young Oliver Callister, will I know, give you young people 100%, you in turn, need to reciprocate with the same. Good luck to you all, lets get the Juniors back on par with other clubs. Finally, may I ask for your support in raising as much money as we can, for my chosen charities, St.Barnabas House and The Evelina Family Trust. Both these charities do amazing work for people in need and distress. Have a great Golfing year?
Ken Ward - Hill Barn Captain.
An outstanding personality who I was privileged to know and admire. The celebration of his life on Friday 16th March illustrated just how much he meant to family and friends alike. It is good to know that Greta and her family derived great comfort from the day. God bless you Barry.

"Mr Hill Barn"
The report in the Herald and the Captain's words at Barry's funeral made me very proud to be a member of the Club. Also well done Richard in the way you reacted so quickly to the situation about the Bar naming.
